Belated Birthday Wishes

Since we took a hiatus for a few months, you missed celebrating the girls' birthdays.  They turned EIGHT on May 2.  Have no fear, Mommy had her camera near!  BOL . . . bark out loud!  Of course, I wasn't near; I was still on sabbatical.  Their cake, just like mine, had a ruff journey . . .

Jenna and Dixie eagerly await a taste of the cake . . .

This kind of celebration can only be held OUTSIDE!

They also each received a duck foot!  Yummy!

A good time was had by all . . .

The girls were exhausted after their big day . . . that's because they're labsolutely in the senior citizens category now!  Jenna's gray hair is proof!  Of course with that logic that would mean Daddy is . . . oops!  Never mind!

Happy belated birthday to my beautiful sisters!

Belated First Birthday Wishes

Ruger celebrated his FIRST birthday on April 27th.  Unfortunately, he wasn't home yet to celebrate with us.  But have no fear, Mommy more than made up for it when he returned the next week.  Mommy went all out and ordered a pupcake online made just for Ruger.  (Because she tries her best to be fair, she ordered one for us too!)  The cake would have been pawfect, but it didn't travel as well as Mommy and the baker had hoped.  But it's the thought that counts, right?  It still tasted quite yummy!

Waiting on cake . . .

Jenna helped with clean up duty.

Ruger did too . . . he ate the plates!

I thought the cake was delicious.  I don't do clean up!

Happy 1st Birthday, Big Boy!

Love from your favorite chew toy (Mommy says that sounds nicer than "play thing!"),

Stealth Mode

I have a secret I haven't told you. I'm a potential candidate for a position with our government. Why you might ask...because I can operate in stealth mode!

Mommy says I was born with this gift. I will settle in one spot and then before she notices I've silently moved to another spot. I did this all summer long and it freaked her out some days. She'd have to search every room in the house to see where I was hiding.

Now that I'm six months old, she doesn't worry about me seeking out trouble in the house as much as she did this past summer. (However, she still doesn't trust me to be on my own to roam in the house for more than a few minutes for reasons unbeknownst to me!) As a future spy for the government I'm not sure she and I would define trouble in the same way.

My biggest stealth operation currently is surprising Mommy in the morning.  After she's let me out of my crate and I've done my business outside, I'm free to roam the house. Mommy returns to her bathroom to work on getting dressed and doing her hair and makeup. I apparently surprise her often when she turns around in the bathroom or steps out of the bathroom. Badda boom!  There I am!  No warning, no jingle of the collar, no padding of the feet!  Just me sitting there perfectly upright watching her with my eagle eyes.

It is because of this skill that I've been recruited as a spy.  The government is hoping I can teach my unique skill to others like myself.  You can never have too many super cute puppy dawg eyes available to stare into and spill your life's secrets.

Look out world!  I'm coming for ya!

Birthday Yumminess

Mommy surprised us with a yummy birthday treat!  She ordered a cake for us at the local barkery.  Before you panic, we know it LOOKS like chocolate, but it's not.  It's actually peanut butter icing with carob chips.  It was seriously YUMMY and we're going to make it last for the rest of the week!  YIPPEE!

We're surprised you can't see the drool in these next few pictures!

As soon as the plates were sat down outside, that cake was GONE!  Poppa was concerned that Mommy had made us eat outside, but when it comes to birthday treats, you never know where the crumbs will fly!  Don't worry, Poppa.  We weren't offended!

It was a great birthday!  We're looking forward to many more years of happiness (as well as many more pieces of cake this week)!

Lucky Number 7

Happy birthday to us!!!!

We are SEVEN years old today.  Can you tell which of us is the good girl??

In traditional human to canine years we're 49 years old, but scientists don't really rely on the old 1:7 year ratio any more.  Mommy saw this chart on Pinterest recently posted by the American Kennel Club.  Our weight falls right on the border of medium to large breed dawgs.  That means we are somewhere between 47-50 human years old.  No matter which end of that range we think we are closer to, that makes us the oldest in the house!

We had a super quick photo session before church Sunday morning.  One of us was better at posing than the other!

Happy Birthday, Jenna!

Happy Birthday, Dixie!

To celebrate, Mommy ordered our first BarkBox.  Apparently she can order us a box each month, but she told us to keep dreaming!  She said we have PLENTY of toys already and definitely do not need to add two more every month!  We tend to disagree, but we're not paying the bill!  If you haven't ever seen a BarkBox in person, there's a theme each month.  This month's theme honored springtime in Japan with items you might take on a cherry blossom picnic (that's what the enclosed card said)!  Mommy was hooked with the adorable tissue paper that had cherry blossoms and dawgs on it.  It could have been elevated to "labadorable" status if it had had drawings of us on it!  In addition to the yummy treats in the box there was a sushi toy and a teapot toy.  Both squeak!  Yippee!

Jenna loves to chew the manufacturer's tag off any new toys first!  One day Mommy is going to have to remember to buy one of those cloth baby books with all the tabs on the edges.  Those would be right up Jenna's alley!

Dixie is wondering if the Japanese play tennis much . . . she'd probably prefer a tennis ball!

Jenna loves BOTH toys!

Mommy tried to capture a picture of each of us in a party hat as well, but . . . once again, one of us was better at posing than the other!

Mommy says there's a surprise for us tonight.  We wonder what it is . . . we'll be sure to take plenty of pictures (as if you had any doubt) and share those with you later in the week!
