Over Already?

Is Christmas over already?  Surely not!  How we can spend an entire month preparing for something that seems to fly by?  It's a good thing we have more family on their way to help us keep the celebration going!

Let's re-visit that list to Santa to see what he delivered:

1. Two faces for Mommy . . . NOPE!

2. Treats . . . YEP!

A neon green moose with elk antlers for each of us!

3. Tennis balls . . . YEP!

4. New stuffed animals  . . . NOPE!  (Unless you count that moose)

5. King size bed for our parents and us . . . NOPE!

Two out of five isn't bad . . . as long as you're not a mathematician!  And thankfully, we aren't.  It was a great Christmas overall.  Maybe we'll have better luck with our list next year.  We hope you had a great Christmas.

Crossing our paws you have more fun on the way too!

The Night Before . . .

Dear Santa Paws,

We might be a little late in writing to you, but better late than never, right?  At least this way, we won't change our minds at the last minute.  We bet you hate it when human kids do that, don't you??  We're only asking for five gifts this year.  Surely that's not asking for too much?  We're enclosing a picture of us dressed like you.  They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

1. Lucky for you, we don't need three arms for Mommy this year (not that you ever came through on that one!).  With only the two of us this year, Mommy has plenty of arm space for each of us.  It would be nice instead if she could have two faces.  When one of us goes to give her kisses, the other sneaks in and tries to steal the love.  If Mommy had two faces, we'd have no need to be jealous of the other.

2. TREATS!  Any flavors will do.

3. TENNIS BALLS!  Any colors are fine.

4. New stuffed animals to carry around in the house and litter the yard.

5. Perhaps a king size bed for our parents and us?  There seems to be limited room for the four of us in the existing bed.  Mommy says she doesn't care for the look of a king size bed, but I bet if given the chance to enjoy it with all of us snuggled together, she might change her mind.

We hope we haven't asked for too much.  We know you have a big job tonight delivering all of those toys.  Crossing our paws for a few of our requests . . .

Love to you, Mrs. Paws, Rudolph, and the whole reindeer gang!

Are You Ready?

Are you ready for Christmas?  We can officially say we are READY!  Why you ask?  Because Mommy has made her homemade dawg treats.  These treats have some of our favorite ingredients: peanut butter, bacon, AND cheese!  How can you go wrong putting ALL of those yummy foods in one delicious bite?

While making these treats for all the local dawgs in our life (sorry Lucy and Hank), Mommy finished up a giant jar of peanut butter.  She allowed Jenna to clean it out like Hunter used to do.  Hunter never had a four pound jar to work with like Jenna did.  He would have LOVED it!

The peanut butter jar traveled from the kitchen to the breakfast room to the den.  Jenna had a fabulous time licking up every morsel of peanut butter! (Please excuse the blurriness of some of these pictures.  Jenna was in action!)

I think she did a pretty amazing job, don't you?  I had no idea her tongue was that long . . .

I personally will not lower myself to sticking my head in a jar.  I held out for better treats.

And Mommy didn't disappoint  . . . she let me lick the spoon and a measuring cup that had peanut butter all over them!

After the treats had finished baking, Mommy let us taste test them for quality control.  They were delicious!  And so we are officially READY!

Hope you are too!
Dixie

The Angel Maker

Do you like the movie It's a Wonderful Life?  Daddy's family watched it every Christmas Eve when he was growing up.  He doesn't feel the need to watch it anymore, but he still loves to quote lines from the movie.  Lately he's been quoting George Bailey's daughter, Zuzu, when she says, "Teacher says, every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings."

Daddy has decided Dixie is The Angel Maker.  She loves to ring the bell to go outside.  She rings it constantly on the weekends when everyone is home.  She rings it so much she drives us crazy!

On the bright side, heaven is quickly filling up with angels!  That has to be good, right?

The next time you're in need of an angel, please give us a ring!  I'm sure Dixie can hook you up!

Love from The Angel Maker's Sister (aka The Supermodel),

Dawggie Decor

Mommy came across a pre-made bow at a craft store recently and HAD TO HAVE IT!!!  She searched the entire store for the ribbon so she could make her own, but it was nowhere to be found.  She has never purchased pre-made bows before because, well, usually they just aren't up to her standards.  Yes, she's snotty about bows!  For this bow, she made an exception.  I think if she could have found rolls of this ribbon, she might have purchased all the store had.

We've shown you this wreath in our kitchen before.  It has cookie cutters that feature dawgs and dawggie related items (you know, like fire hydrants!).  It is one of Mommy's favorite Christmas decorations because its theme is so near and dear to her heart.  Here's how it looked last year:

Mommy took the pre-made bow she found and exchanged it with the one above for a FABULOUS LOOK!  (Just an FYI, that bow above doesn't quite fit Mommy's standards even though she made it herself!)  Here is what the "new" wreath looks like:

I think Mommy likes this wreath even better because not only does it have a new look, but it also has a UGA look with its red and black!

This fire hydrant has a double meaning for Mommy (flashback to the tender age of sixteen and just starting to drive!).

In other dawggie decor, Mommy has pretty much officially earned the title of Crazy Dawg Lady.  She decided to decorate our crates this year!!!  Yep, she's lost it!

Mommy's co-workers thought she must be crazy because surely we would EAT the wreaths while she was away.  Little do they know what GOOD GIRLS we are!  We would never do something as ridiculous as that!  This fun festive look wasn't what Mommy was originally aiming for, but when she saw the candy themed candle rings, she decided to go for it.  They look YOUNG and FUN and that's what we are!

We hope you're enjoying decorating for the holidays.  Less than a week to go!

Advent Treats

Do you remember having an advent calendar growing up?  Mommy says she remembers the advent calendars of her childhood just being made out of poster board with tiny little doors to open each day.  Inside each door was a hopeful message, a picture, or a scripture passage, but that was the extent of the excitement.  The real allure was growing closer and closer to the 25th!

Advent calendars have come a long way since then.  Today's advent calendars are VERY crafty and can provide tons of fun for the children who follow the days leading up to Christmas. In a moment of weakness Mommy decided we needed our very own advent calendar to count the days until Christmas.  She should know we usually can only count up to four.  That's typically the maximum number of treats Mommy can carry in one hand when trying to coax us into a doing something.  Apparently we are going to learn to count much higher than four this holiday season (a Christmas miracle??).  She purchased this calendar and couldn't wait to hang it up!

The only real drawback of this calendar is the pockets are only big enough for one treat and there are two of us.  Don't fret Grandma, Mommy gives us both a treat each day!

Another potential problem is that Jenna is stalking the advent calendar . . .

I don't really see this as a problem since it keeps Jenna out of my hair for a while each night.  She doesn't sit in that position all day, but she does zero in on it for several minutes each night.  I think it's hilarious that treats are within sight, but she can't get her paws on them!  Ha!

Do you have an advent calendar you're tracking until Christmas?   Only EIGHT days to go!!!

Whoo-hoo!!!

The Christmas Supermodel

By now you've heard Mommy and Daddy (and even my reluctant sister Dixie) call me the Supermodel.  I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they (and the rest of the world) start referring to me as "The Body" and Elle Macpherson is heard of no more!

I am finally starting to receive the attention I deserve.  I've made it to the big time!  What better holiday to reveal my national debut than Christmas?

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you . . . drum roll please . . .

ME!!!  On a dish towel!

I tried to recreate the image from my original session, but I was having an exceptional day that day.  It's also not quite the same posing for Mommy in the kitchen as it was for the artist who drew this.  The funny thing is, (and don't tell anyone) I don't remember actually posing for the artist . . .

Love to all my fans,
Jenna
The [Canine] Body

PS: Aunt Gwen sent this flour sack towel to Mommy for Christmas.  It's so big I had to take two pictures to show you all that it has on it,

She hasn't confessed to me, but I suspect Dixie posed as that black lab in the middle  . . . what do you think???

It's a Wrap!

Mommy is one of those annoying people who likes to have her Christmas shopping done early.  She also likes to have the presents wrapped before Thanksgiving so that when the tree goes up shortly after, the presents are ready to finish the "look."  For some reason, she's having a hard time getting her act together this year.  Most of the shopping was finished early, but the tree went up later than usual and the presents weren't wrapped in advance.  When she finally did get around to wrapping the gifts, I decided to help her out . . .

As she finished up rolls of paper, I helped by moving those empty rolls out of her way.  I think I'm super sweet that way.  I had trouble getting the rolls to fit in the stairwell, so instead I took them to Mommy's bedroom and proceeded to make them more manageable.  Once I got my teeth on those rolls, they were definitely easier to carry around.

Mommy said I reminded her of another sweet dawg who loved to help wrap presents as well . . .

Usually it's Dixie who does something to remind Mommy of Hunter.  The honor goes to me this time, and that makes me a lucky dawg.  I wonder if Hunter is the reason Mommy isn't quite in the Christmas spirit yet.  It's something to ponder, but for now I'll wrap it up.

Bark at You Later!

The Wait Has Begun . . .

Now that the holiday season has officially begun, we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Santa Paws!  We like to sit in the dining room and keep an eye out for Santa.  We do have a chimney, but you never know when he might decide to just drive up the driveway!  It could happen . . .

Another favorite observation spot is from the bed in the front guest room.  Mommy keeps an extra sheet on the bed just for us.

Have you seen Santa Paws?  Let's hope he has a really good GPS and can find us with no problems!

Waiting,
Dixie and Jenna

Hanky Panky?

Sssshhhh!  Don't tell, but I think Mommy is having an affair . . . she recently returned home with a strange smell on her.  She tried to act as if she hadn't been away, but I know the truth.  She's been with another DAWG!  What is the world coming to?  Is nothing sacred any more?  What has happened to our Mommy-Dawg relationship?

To make matters worse, this other dawg is someone close to the family: Of all the dawgs in the world, it's HANK!  Mommy met Hank over Thanksgiving and she just couldn't help herself.  She spent as much time as possible with him, even sneaking away from the family at times to visit with him.

I overheard Mommy telling someone she could "just eat him up!"  What exactly does that mean?  Does she plan to make Hank chopped liver and have him for dinner?  (After all, he probably is wheat, dairy, egg, etc, etc, free!)  Or is he so super adorable that she wants to snatch him up and bring him home?  I vote for the chopped liver.  I'll admit, we are missing a certain dynamic that comes with having three dawgs and as well as having a male dawg around, but I'm not so sure we're ready for Hank!

I'm hoping this love affair between Hank and Mommy was just a one time, short lived, fall fling.  I don't think my ego can take any more Hanky Panky!

Doubtful,
Dixie

Sad Day in Dawg Nation

Today is a very sad day for the Dawg Nation.  We're not talking about the country we personally live in, but Georgia Bulldawg Nation.  CMR (Coach Mark Richt for those who aren't in the know) was let go from our beloved Bulldawg squad as head coach this past weekend.  No, we haven't won the Southeastern Conference title since 2005, but Coach Richt holds an overall record of 145-51.

Despite this overall winning record, wins and losses will never define CMR.   He will be known for the impact he had on his players and most of all his faith and trust in the Lord.  David Pollack, former NFL player and former Bulldawg, said it best about CMR on Twitter:  Coach Mark Richt taught me a lot of great things about life, but the biggest was to always trust God.  He talked the talk and walked the walk.

We're sad at our house, but we'll continue to be loyal supporters of the Bulldawgs . . . until a team somewhere decides to be the Labradors!  (Now, that would be a great team to support!  Wonder why no one has thought of that yet?)

Go Dawgs!  Sic 'em!  Woof!  Woof!  Woof!
