Gooooo Dawgs!

For the second year in a row, the University of Georgia Bulldogs have had a great football season.  We've been showing off our Bulldog pride all season long on Instagram with purchases Mommy made via shops she found on Instagram.

First up are the flowers and bow tie we purchased from our friends Ruger and Raven (@rugergonewild).  Their Mom makes these in her store called Raven's Garden.  (You should go online and check out Raven; she and Dixie could be twins!)  You can request any color you want.  Naturally, we needed something in red, white, and black!

Don't we look pawsome?

The other purchase Mommy made for us comes from a store in Georgia called Charley Southern (@charleysouthern or charleysouthern.com).  They have a sister store called Pretty Southern which sells jewelry and tee shirts.  Mommy has ordered a few things for herself as well.  The owner of this store was very willing to change up her original design to meet Mommy's vision for us.

Jenna's bandana says, "My Dawgs Bite Hard."  Daddy decided this one was made for Jenna since she took a bite of Mommy's finger once upon a time.

Ruger's says "Sic 'Em"

Dixie's says, "And all God's people said, Go Dawgs"

Mommy was inspired to order these bandanas for us not only because they were cute, but because she had already previously ordered the human version of Dixie's  . . . they are now able to twin!

Mommy also had a custom tee shirt designed by another store found on Instagram called Two Vinyl Girls (@twovinylgirls).  You can find it here on Etsy as well.  The store owner was easy to deal with and worked with Mommy back and forth as often as needed until they settled on the pawfect design.  Mommy loves her new shirt!

We hope the great season Georgia has had continues into the post season!

Happy Fall Y'all

It's the most wonderful time of the year!!!!  Wait, isn't that a Christmas song?  That's a wonderful time too, but FALL is Mommy's favorite season . . . except for that pesky detail of school resuming.

We recently had a fall photo session.  Previous years in previous locations have featured BEAUTIFUL fall leaves, but we hardly have any trees in our city, so that's not happening!  Instead we're stuck wearing fall bandanas and bowties!  Mommy will just have to be happy with that!

We are definitely blessed!

Where are my ears??

Here's what we REALLY think about all this photo mumbo jumbo . . .

Oh well!  No matter how we look, it's still fall and hopefully (paws crossed) the temps will start to cool down for us soon!

Just Call Me Punkin!

As Mommy started putting up the Christmas decorations a couple weeks ago, she realized she had a LOT of pumpkins that were still in great condition.  They had no soft spots and she felt bad about just throwing them away.  She decided to carry them to the back porch and built a lovely little (out of season) display.  Mistake #1!

I naturally discovered those pumpkins and began to carry them around the yard.  Mommy should have disposed of those pumpkins right then and there!  Mistake #2!

Instead, she sent pics to our family to point out how cute I was!  When she saw me chewing on the pumpkins, she took more pictures.  You're really not surprised are you??  She should have thrown the pumpkins away . . . Mistake #3!  See a theme developing here??

She didn't throw the pumpkins away until later that night when she realized I'd been outside by myself for a looooooong time.  She discovered this:

The pumpkins finally went into the trash with Mommy fully expecting to be up all night with my stomach . . . Lucky for her, pumpkin is good for a dawg's stomach and I had no problems at all!  If you're thinking it was a miracle, you're right!

Mommy's Little Punkin,

Fire in the Hole!

When I first arrived on the scene, I didn't really take notice of the hole in the wall.  Jenna's crate was out in the middle of the den since she was convalescing and needed to be where she could keep up with all of us.  (Look at how tiny I was!!)

But a few weeks ago the temperature started to drop and Daddy moved that giant medallion screen to reveal the hole.  What in the world was he doing and why did we have a hole in the wall?  If you listened carefully you could even hear the wind blowing through it . . .

Daddy said the hole is really called the fireplace and it's a favorite feature in any house for him.  As soon as it gets the least bit chilly, he loves to build a fire.  He said I have to be careful and not get too close.  He also said that wooden leaf garland Mommy has hanging over the fireplace is a fire hazard, but I'm not totally sure of what he meant.

It only took Daddy a few minutes to build a roaring fire in the hole, I mean the fireplace.  I have it on good authority (from my sisters) that Mommy takes a LOT longer to successfully build a fire and it doesn't always stay lit!  This thing called fire is amazing!  It made all kinds of cool, crackly sounds and gave off heat that kept me warm.

Once it made a loud crashing sound and I had to jump across the room to save myself!  Mommy said it was just a log shifting, but I feared there might be something more sinister in there trying to grab me.

I finally became convinced that it was okay to enjoy my usual sleeping spot in front of the hole.  Drat!  It's going to take me a little while longer to call the hole by its proper name.

If you need me I'll be curled up sleeping in front of  the fireplace!

Falling All Around

Mommy doesn't feel like she sees a big difference between seasons where we live currently.  Her favorite season is fall.  She LOVES to see the leaves on the trees change.  We get a tiny bit of that here, but we don't have many trees to begin with so her chance to enjoy fall is limited.  Back in September Mommy noticed a field of tall but small sunflowers near the house.  She started developing an idea in the back of her mind . . . Daddy hoped she'd forget about it, but she didn't.  One afternoon, she indulged her idea of a fall photo session.  She put each of us in the car one at a time and drove to the nearby spot in three consecutive trips.  Each trip was unique just like us!

Although we're already moving into the Christmas season, it's technically still fall for a few more weeks!  Enjoy!

The New Camo

What do you know about camouflage?  Besides the fact that as a verb it means to blend in. I'm talking about camo the noun.  Camouflage has changed quite a bit over the years as technology has grown to enable the designers to better know what animals and birds can and cannot see.

We have a jacket in the closet that used to belong to Grandaddy.  Mommy has been known to wear it a few times in a pinch when she's afraid she'll get dirty doing something wild and crazy with Daddy.  Its camo pattern was originally known as what else, but Duck Hunter.  It's a bit outdated now . . .

Daddy has several types of camo in his hunting closet.  He has this pattern known as Advantage Classic Camo which is made by Realtree.  You can see how well it works.

He also has this pattern know as Advantage Max 4.  He has a LOT of this and it seems to work well for him in most waterfowl situations.

I learned while researching the history of camouflage that the Realtree company now has Advantage Max 5.  Mommy is hoping and praying Daddy doesn't know anything about this new camo pattern.   It can't be that much better, can it???  It's apparently been around for a couple years already.  Perhaps we finally own enough camo to last the rest of Daddy's life??  Ssssshhhhhh . . . don't tell him!

Daddy even has this weird camo called a ghillie suit.  Mommy calls it Swamp Thing!  It's guaranteed to scare the fool out of anyone unsuspecting (especially on Halloween while hiding in the shrubs!)  Daddy's is a slightly darker color.

Why have I been going on and on about camouflage patterns?  First, it's hunting season, so the camo has been brought out of the closet quite a bit lately.  Also, I'm here to show you the newest and best camo pattern known to man or canine.  It's unlike anything you've ever seen and we don't have to go far to find it at our house.

That's right, BLACK is the new camo!  It has absolutely amazing hiding properties.  My sister and I specialize in this beautiful pattern and have been successful in hiding out from unwanted tasks like bath time!

Feel free to contact us if you should find yourself in need of the new black camo pattern.

"I Dove You!"

Last weekend, Daddy proved once again that I am his favorite!  Personally, there was never any doubt in my mind, but it became all too clear to Dixie.  Daddy had the chance to go dove hunting with one of our new neighbors and he took me with him!  Yeehaw!!

Daddy reported to Mommy that I did a good job.  Once I realized I wasn't supposed to try to catch the empty shells as they flew out of the gun.  AND once I realized I wasn't supposed to try to catch the shot out of the barrel as it was fired.  That was a BIG NO NO!  Daddy said there would be no way he could explain that one to Mommy if I got hurt (or worse).

My biggest problem was that I really didn't like the feel of the dove in my mouth.  I prefer the bigger trophies (who doesn't??).  Not knowing the area very well, Daddy kept me on a leash and walked every step I walked.  I didn't want to pick them up, but I did a great job of pointing out where they fell.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I do have to admit that although I may not have wanted to pick the birds up, that didn't stop me from eating one.  And only one!  Apparently eating the trophies is also a BIG NO NO!

While we were out in the field, Daddy saw a horned toad, also called a short-horned lizard, or a horny toad.  Mommy was so jealous!  She is dying to see one for herself!

Overall, it was a great day!  For me at least.  Dixie told me she cried and cried after we left.  Mommy felt so sorry for her they went on their own little adventure riding through the country checking out the area.  I'm sure Dixie enjoyed it, but there's no way she had as much fun as I did.

It was a Triple D Day:  Daddy, daughter, and doves!  What more could you ask for?
