Insta-Us

If you aren't doing so already, you can follow us on Instagram!  You don't even have to have an account.  You can just creep around on the site and check out all kinds of pictures!  No need to feel weird about doing so.  Mommy used to do that all the time before she opened an account for us.

We post almost daily and have some pretty funny pictures out there.  We have a link on the actual blog site, but a lot of you receive our posts through email and never make it to the website.  We thought we'd show you what you're missing out on  . . .

One of our biggest hits:    #flossingwithfeathers   #gonehunting

We were jealous of the recent snow some of our instabuddies received.
This was as close as we could come!  #wewantsnow  #luckydawgs

Sometimes we don't even appear in the pics.  This is Jenna's leopard trying to escape the Jaws of Life.

Sisterhood in black and white    #sisters

We've had lots of warm days this winter and we've taken advantage of those by playing outside.
#summerinjanuary    #ballhog    #blueskies

Dixie stole Jenna's bone.

In her free time, Mommy's been watching Downton Abbey.  She LOVES it!
If you haven't watched it, Jenna and Mommy both highly recommend it!

Still Feeling the Love

How did you spend Valentine's Day?  This seems to be one of those holidays that sends people to extremes: you either LOVE IT or HATE IT!  Since we aren't people, we're all for it!  It's a chance for Mommy to treat us to special edible treats.  Mommy decorated a bit more than usual this year since we had company visit right before this holiday.

She bought a new garden flag to greet anyone at the door.

She also used her heart shaped mug almost daily.  Daddy picked up the K-cups from Krispy Kreme.  Did you know you receive a free original glazed doughnut with any coffee purchase at Krispy Kreme during the month of February?  It's not too late to take advantage of this . . . RUN, don't walk!

Don't forget that FREE original glazed doughnut . . . go as soon as you finish reading this!

She purchased red, white, and pink M&M's for anyone to snack on . . . anyone but Jenna!  Somehow Jenna noticed those little additions.  If you start to wonder where she is, just look near the candy dish!

Our parents also went out to eat for the big day.  They tried out a "new to them" restaurant.  Unfortunately, the restaurant didn't live up to the hype for Mommy.  This lobster bisque looks better than it tasted.

Dessert for Mommy was a red velvet lava cake.  With the word "lava," Mommy expected chocolate inside.  Wouldn't you?  It was good, but chocolate wasn't involved.  Drat!

Daddy had the cheesecake that was flavored with pecans.  It was just so-so . . .

Thank goodness strawberries make that cute little heart shape or Mommy would have been totally let down by the meal!  And lucky for us, she made a trip to the barkery so we were able to indulge in dessert too!  We had red velvet pupcakes!  Unlike Mommy's dessert, ours delivered as promised!

We hope you had a great Valentine's Day!  Wags and Kisses,

Trip to the Vet: Lame or Lyme?

Recently I had to take a trip to the vet.  I LOVE going for a ride.  Not so crazy about the destination.  Neither is Mommy.  Mommy still isn't one hundred percent sold on our vet office.  She chose the office based on online reviews, its close proximity to our house, and its hours (open seven days a week and open til 10PM!!!!).  You can't beat those hours if an emergency should arise.  That being said, Jenna and I have seen a different doctor every time we've been and therefore aren't bonding with any of them!  [sigh]

My most recent trip to the vet was a bit alarming for Mommy.  On New Year's Day, I started limping and really favoring one of my front paws.  She and Daddy tried their best to see if I had a sticker stuck between my pads, but couldn't find anything.  They also wondered if I'd been bitten by a spider since my lameness disappeared the next day!

Two weeks later, it happened again.  Mommy recalled our previous vet testing Jenna for Lyme disease once when she was limping.  Panic set in for Mommy.  I started feeling better and not favoring my foot as much as I had been.  Naturally, Mommy thought!  She says she never takes dawgs to the vet that actually act like they are hurt or sick.  We always make major improvements when threatened with a trip to the vet.  Even when Hunter tore his ACL (TWICE).  The one and only exception was Jenna's gastrointestinal problem back in the fall.

(Is it just me, or does it look like Mommy has one too many fingers at first glance??)

The vet probably thought Mommy was crazy for suggesting Lyme disease since it RARELY occurs in the area in which we currently live.  But once she learned I'd only been here six months and that I'd lived my entire life in an area of our country where Lyme disease is VERY prevalent, she changed her tune!  After all, intermittent lameness was a symptom.  Mommy has NEVER seen a tick on me or my siblings, but that doesn't mean anything.  I was immediately tested and we were told the results would take about twelve minutes.  Cue the Jeopardy music . . .

Here's the problem with our vet office.  That test probably did take only twelve minutes.  But it's sooooo busy there, actually learning the results takes about an HOUR!!!  Can you still hear that Jeopardy music going in the background?

Mommy did her best to entertain me.  She rubbed my bottom (a favorite rubbing spot).

She rubbed my belly.

She rubbed me behind the ears.

I finally just passed out on her feet.  (Not literally, but I was keeping her warm.)

The test results were negative.  WHEW!  The doctor decided I had tweaked the ligaments in my front paw somehow and gave me a round of meds to take care of the inflammation.  I'm doing much better (but then I was already doing better by the time we arrived at the vet!).

Now I just have to put up with Jenna's lame jokes!

Are You Ready?

In a year it will be time to kick off the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.  I'm READY!  I've been training hard.  You might wonder what my sport is . . . Tennis?  Swimming?  Ball Retrieval?  All good ideas since I'm perfect at those.

But those activities are more suited to the summer.  I'm talking about a dangerous sport that really puts its athletes in harm's way.

No, I'm not talking about bobsledding, although my sport of choice is similar . . . sort of.  If you haven't seen Disney's 1993 movie Cool Runnings about the 1988 Jamaican bobsled team, you really should watch it.  Very good movie and it definitely puts me in the mood for next winter.

No, I'm not talking about the luge either, but you're getting warmer . . .

Have you figured it out yet?  This member of Team USA looks so much like me in his black suit.

Yes!  My sport of choice is the skeleton.  I'm sure the name of the sport has NOTHING to do with what could become of its athletes if they fail to make it down the track!  Nothing . . .

This athlete from Japan looks just like me don't you think???

My coach uses tennis balls to inspire me in my training and help me focus on my goals.  Here's a look at my Olympic worthy form as I practice.

I practice nonstop.  In all rooms of the house.  It's too early to know exactly what the track will be like in South Korea, but the more prepared I am the better my chances.

I even try to get in a few early morning practices each day as well.  I'm not sure my coach is as dedicated as I am.  Maybe if I promise her she can share the podium when I take home the gold, she'll change her tune?

Here's to future Olympians everywhere!

Farewell to Football

It's Super Bowl Sunday and that means several things depending on who you are:
  • It's the official end of the professional football season.
  • It's a day to pig out on all kinds of snack foods.
  • It's a great day for commercial watching (something that rarely happens anymore at our house since the invention of the DVR).
Neither Mommy nor Daddy really cares that much about professional football.  Daddy will definitely watch football sometimes on Sunday afternoons, but he doesn't seem to have a favorite team.  Mommy really doesn't care about the outcome one way or the other although she enjoys football in general.  Although we will be watching the game today, it's just a celebration of those events mentioned above.

For my parents, the real football season ended right after Thanksgiving.  Yes, they watched college bowl games during the holidays and the college national championship game last month, but the regular season fun ended a while back.

Because football season was over, we apparently decided we didn't need our footballs anymore.  Mommy says at $3 each, these were a great investment for the season.  I personally LOVED the footballs!  Our season started strong . . .

But all good things must come to an end, right?  That's apparently what Dixie thought.  She recently grabbed both footballs in her mouth and refused to share.  Naturally, I had to take back what was mine.  Dixie's hoarding ways resulted in the following . . .  (Yes, I'm blaming her for this mess!)

[sigh]  I sure hope Mommy is able to find a good deal like this again next season . . .

Counting the days 'til the next kickoff,
Jenna
