It's Thanksgiving week and we've started making a list of the people and items we count as blessings.  You'll have to wait until Thursday to see the official list, but you can probably guess some of our favorites.

Friends in Far Away Places

Do you follow us on Instagram?  If you do, then you might have noticed homerdog22 is usually one of the first to like our posts.  Meet Homer:

We've become good friends with Homer and his Mum who live all the way around the world in Australia!  Such good friends that Homer recently sent us a few gifts.  If Mommy had had her act together, she'd have taken a picture of everything that arrived all together.  But she didn't . . .

The first things that rolled out of the package were three Kong squeaky balls!  We were (and still are) in heaven!

That's Ruger running by in the background with a ball in his mouth.  Ruger LOVES squeaky toys and runs around like a madman whenever he has a new one!

We each take turns being the ball hog!

Ruger and Dixie had a bit of a scuffle over a ball that first day despite the other two being readily available!

Homer also sent each of us new collars with our names on them!  They are color coordinated for our personalities (you can see the colors above) and are super soft on the underside.  Along with each collar came a light that has the ability to flash for us to wear on our collars so we can be seen when we're out at night.

I look so serious here, but I'm trying to show you Ruger's beautiful blue collar. 

I got the blue light!  Mommy thought it matched my purple collar best.  You know purple is the color of royalty, right?  Just saying.

Dixie's light is yellow when it's off, but a little orangey when it's on.  It goes great with her pink collar.  Pink is such a sweet color and that's exactly what Dixie is . . . or so Mommy tells me!

And Ruger has the red light!  It matches his blue collar really well.  Plus, he can be Ruger the Red Nosed Reindeer with his light during the Christmas season.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our gifts all the way from the Land Down Under, or the Land of Oz as Homer calls it.

Thank you so much for all of our lovely gifts, Homer and Homer's Mum!  As we approach our American Thanksgiving, we're thankful for our new friends across the globe!

Update on Hank

As you saw last week on the blog, while we were locked up in the slammer, Mommy was gallivanting around with our canine cousin Hank.  She loves spending time with him.  She says there's something about his eyes that remind her of Hunter.  Hank loves spending time with Mommy too.

Hank also loves to spend time in the woods around his house sniffing out the wildlife.

Grandaddy built a bench a few years back from which to watch the grandchildren play.  Hank really enjoys watching life go by from this vantage point.  Maybe our Daddy will build us a throne too?  Of course, we'd need two . . . of equal height . . .

Mommy and Hank both seem to like sticking out their tongues.  That's a family trait by the way. Daddy and Cousin S tend to do that when they are concentrating.  Mommy and Hank usually reserve this for expressing their opinions about something.

Mommy probably won't see Hank again until this time next year. That's good news for us.  With luck, maybe she'll forget all about him.

Turkey Trot (aka Our Parents Left Us Behind Again!)

Once again, Mommy and Daddy took a trip and left us behind.  [sigh]  They said not to worry about it; dawgs aren't allowed inside where they went (shame on you, Mimi and Grandaddy!).  They traveled to Daddy's hometown for Thanksgiving a couple weeks ago.

Our human cousins, K and S, were eager to show off their teepee in the woods behind their house.

Mommy and K had their annual turkey drawing session.  They coerced Daddy to participate as well this year.

Cousin K wants to be a Taylor Swift fan much to her parents' dismay, so this year's turkey is named Princess Taylor Swift.  She rules over Turkeyville (population 500, except on Thursdays).  The turkey version of Taylor Swift says "Shake it Off" is her favorite song.  Daddy thought their turkey looked a bit like an upside down light bulb, so he drew his version of a turkey . . . it resembled lunch that day!

Daddy took Cousin S fishing . . . a lesson in patience for both, but a good time was had by all!  (Picture taken on the phone from a long way across the pond.)

Daddy, Grandaddy, and Uncle W all went quail and pheasant hunting.  Hank, our canine cousin, went too.  Another good time had by all!  Speaking of Hank . . . Mommy has a bit of an obsession with him (more to come in a later post).  We're guessing it's because she can't spend the holiday with us.  That had better be all it is.  Surely, there's no way Hank is more handsome than the two of us gorgeous gals??

The human cousins love to play outside and it was warm enough to run around wih no coats all week.

Cousin S has been trying to catch a lizard for a while and was finally successful.  Can you spot it in this first picture?

We hope you had as much fun during your Thanksgiving as our parents did.  We were in a local kennel and had our nails clipped while we were there.  Oh, and Mommy splurged and gave them the go ahead to treat us to a special Thanksgiving meal too.  We refuse to tell Mommy what that meal actually included . . . maybe the guilt of leaving us behind will eat away at her like we ate away at that special meal . . .

More Thankfulness . . .

Did you notice anything unusual in our Thanksgiving post?

This picture is from last year.  You will note all the leaves on the ground.  We don't have leaves or trees in our new location . . . [sigh] . . . life can't all be perfect!  But we're thankful for our once beautiful yard and the hope that maybe one day we'll have another beautiful yard.

Here's what it looks like pretty much year round where we are now.

We've only been here six months, but Mommy can't imagine it looking any different unless you count browner . . . we need to remind her that brown is one of her favorite colors, so that's something to be thankful for, right?

Always look for the good in every situation!  After all, how many times will Daddy have to break out the snow blower this year?  (Hopefully none since we sold it before the move!!!).

We've been so blessed this year in so many ways.  We hope you have a great day with friends and family and take time to reflect on your blessings.  Mommy says we'll remember our blessings more if we write them down (always a teacher, she is).

Here's what we're thankful for this year in no particular order:

A new, less stressful (on most days) job for Daddy

Less crate time in the new house
