We're starting the new year with old news. Our editor in chief says she was very busy the month of December, but in reality she was very LAZY!
We'll start by telling you about this year's Christmas tree. Usually our parents put a tree up right after Thanksgiving, but this year Mommy was sick the entire week of Thanksgiving and wanted to wait until she felt better. BIG mistake. Since we've lived here, our parents have gone to the same hardware store each year and chosen a beautiful yet inexpensive tree. Mommy believes she has to have a Fraser fir as her Christmas tree. Her home state of North Carolina is famous for their Fraser fir production and Mommy insists it's the BEST! Apparently Daddy should have insisted they go when they usually do . . .
When our parents arrived at the usual place, there were NO Fraser firs to be found! Mommy asked and was told "they went first." Mommy thought she was going to cry, and Daddy wanted to do whatever he could to prevent the meltdown. They discussed buying a Douglas fir, but Daddy knew she wouldn't be happy for long. Instead, they started driving around in the hopes of finding another tree lot. They finally ended up at Home Depot. This may or may not sound like a good place to purchase a tree, but they had FRASER FIRS! A lot of them! Our parents found the perfect tree fairly quickly (Mommy usually has to look at ALL options), but it came at a price. This was not a cheap tree, but it made Mommy happy! (And isn't that what really matters??)
While putting up the tree, we had to participate in the obligatory strands of lights pictures! Mommy calls this fun; we call this torture! Which of us do you think wore it best? Ruger appears to be a bit more freaked out than the rest of us, but it is only his second experience with the lights.
Once the tree was fully decorated, Ruger seemed to really enjoy checking it out. We won't tell you the tree has tipped back against the wall TWICE this year and Daddy is seriously thinking about a fake tree for next year. Truth be told, Mommy was already thinking about it because of the allergies that pop up once the tree goes up. After wrestling with the tree and tree stand several times, Daddy might be on board now! Only time will tell . . .
Here's the final product and our unusual tree topper.
We also have an advent tree at our house. There's one bone in each day's pocket that Mommy manages to split three ways. You'll be surprised to know that we don't sit here and beg ALL DAY long! We actually know these treats are for the morning and only ask for them after we've eaten breakfast! We're super smart that way!
We hope you had a beautiful tree this year with no mishaps. We'll continue to share our December antics with you as we move into the month of January.
Happy 2019!
Dixie, Jenna & Ruger
