Sad Day in Dawg Nation

Today is a very sad day for the Dawg Nation.  We're not talking about the country we personally live in, but Georgia Bulldawg Nation.  CMR (Coach Mark Richt for those who aren't in the know) was let go from our beloved Bulldawg squad as head coach this past weekend.  No, we haven't won the Southeastern Conference title since 2005, but Coach Richt holds an overall record of 145-51.

Despite this overall winning record, wins and losses will never define CMR.   He will be known for the impact he had on his players and most of all his faith and trust in the Lord.  David Pollack, former NFL player and former Bulldawg, said it best about CMR on Twitter:  Coach Mark Richt taught me a lot of great things about life, but the biggest was to always trust God.  He talked the talk and walked the walk.

We're sad at our house, but we'll continue to be loyal supporters of the Bulldawgs . . . until a team somewhere decides to be the Labradors!  (Now, that would be a great team to support!  Wonder why no one has thought of that yet?)

Go Dawgs!  Sic 'em!  Woof!  Woof!  Woof!

It Ain't Easy Being Cheesey

Mommy's food allergies are taking a toll on her taste buds.  She has to make two versions of lots of foods because Daddy isn't giving his taste buds a chance to be ruined as well.  He believes Mommy  can no longer taste good food.  Perhaps he's right.

Recently they had macaroni and cheese with their dinner.  Mommy now fixes it in two different dishes so she can have HER white sauce, noodles, and cheese, and Daddy can have the GOOD kind.  Although Mommy would like to replace these ramekins with smaller ones, she hasn't found just the right ones and in their present state, the chipped dish lets everyone know which one belongs to Mommy.

I'm not sure if she really needs the chip do you???  Oh well, no matter what, that vegan cheese still tastes good in my opinion.  But then again, I haven't met a food I don't like!

Always hungry,
Jenna

PS: Happy birthday on Wednesday to Aunt K!  Hopefully your taste buds won't suffer!

Sisterly Love

I know my sister Dixie loves me, but does she love me more than food?  That is the question.

Recently Mommy dropped flour on my head (of the allergy free rice variety).  Technically, Mommy dropped flour on the floor and my head got in the way in an attempt to retrieve whatever goodness she might be spilling, but I digress.  The flour on my head made me look more like Daddy with his gray hairs (I already have quite a few on my chin).  Perhaps he really only has flour on his head too?  If that's the case, I need to help him out and remove some of it.  But I further digress . . .

Dixie says she wanted to help me clean myself up.  But I wonder if she was just trying to help herself to a treat.

So what do you think?  Does she love me or food more?  I think I know what my answer would be if the situation were reversed.  But don't tell Dixie!

Me, a Hoarder?

Mommy and Daddy have taken to calling me a hoarder.  I'm really not sure what they're talking about.  It's not as if our house looks like this:

And it certainly does not look like this:

We're only talking about a few toys in my crate!

What do YOU think?  Hoarder or not?

Vet Visit

Recently we had to take a trip to the vet.  There were two items on the agenda: nail clipping and anal sac express.  Does that sound like a fun visit?  I think NOT!  Mommy took both of us at the same time and it turned into a FUN FILLED ADVENTURE!  Well, not all of it was fun, but when my sister was having her bum taken care of, it was fun!

Jenna went first.  Usually the vet techs do everything in the examining room with Mommy present, but this time the nice lady noticed we were a bit energetic.  In our defense, Mommy had only been home for fifteen minutes before we had to load up the car and go to the vet.  The tech decided to take us into the back room so we wouldn't be as distracted by each other.  I'm not sure her plan worked . . .

I pretended I worked behind the desk.  It was so much fun!  I also tried to convince Mommy we needed to leave Jenna behind and high tail it out of there! (pun intended)

When I was dragged into the back so the vet tech could violate me, Jenna played her own games . . .

I think overall Jenna was more patient than I was while waiting for us to be finished with the dirty deed.  Of course that was only after we were in the examining room.  While waiting in the lobby, the receptionist said she thought Jenna was the reincarnation of Hunter . . . Jenna surprised us by uncharacteristically barking A LOT!  Hunter was known for the LOUD greetings he brought with him every time he arrived!

Hopefully we won't have do that again any time soon.  Rumor has it we go back in a month for more work on our backsides!!  The good news is we always come out smelling like raspberries!  Yum!

Until next time,
Dixie

Wanna Treat?

I'm pretty sure we’ve shown you our relatively new treat jar.  I love that it’s in the kitchen and not in the laundry room where the old one is located.  The old jar for treats sometimes slipped my mind because it was kept behind a door that I haven’t learned to open yet.

I don't have memory loss with this treat jar.

In fact the whole time Mommy and Aunt Holly scrapbooked, I sat in the kitchen on treat patrol!

Keeping an eye out for anything that may come my way . . .
Jenna

PS: Hopefully sweet treats are headed for Grandma and Poppa today.  They are celebrating their 45th anniversary today!!!  WOW!

Hank Update

Some of you have been wondering how our cousin Hank is doing.  Have no fear, he's still as cute as ever!  [jealous sigh]  On his most recent trip to the vet he weighed a little over twenty-eight pounds.  I think most of those pounds are in his big eyes and ears, don't you?

Yes, he's cute, but let me tell you what that stinker did (pun intended).  Grandaddy and Mimi thought a certain dawggie smell was coming from Hank.  Mommy says she knows that smell well, but I have no idea what she's talking about.  So, Grandaddy gave Hank a bath and Mimi washed the bedding.  While the bed cover was still drying, Hank returned to his domain in the garage.  When my grandparents checked on Hank the next time, they had a surprise waiting on them  . . .

Hank's bed had been left on top of his travel porter and Hank wasn't locked in his crate.  Naturally I have to take Hank's side in this situation (even if he is potentially borderline cuter than me).  What's a boy to do?  HAVE FUN!!!

You'll be happy to know Hank survived the bedding incident and has even been hunting.  Grandaddy reports Hank points and retrieves pretty well for a dawg only three and a half months old!  I'm sure he will only improve with age.  [another jealous sigh]

Good job, Hank!
Dixie

PS: Happy Birthday, Grandaddy!  Hopefully Hank won't chew up your presents . . .

A Visitor!

During Columbus Day weekend, Aunt Holly came to visit.  I LOVE HOLLY!!!!  Once she arrived, I totally forgot Mommy was anywhere near.  I gave my full attention to Holly.  I can get away with so many bad habits when Holly is here!  It is sooooo much fun to have her visit!

Holly came to visit so she and Mommy could scrapbook.  They were able to devote 48 hours to non-stop scrapbooking.  We helped!

I was having so much fun showing my devotion to Holly that Mommy put an extra top sheet on Holly's bed in case I wanted to sleep with her.  But I'm no dummy.  I can't forget who feeds me.  I slept with Mommy every night.  I did however provide the wake up wag to Holly each morning.

Once Holly was up, she and I had deep conversations and lots of snuggle time.  To be fair, Holly really didn't sleep that late; she just isn't quite the morning person Mommy is . . . not many people are!

I hope Aunt Holly will come visit again soon!  I LOVE  HOLLY!!!!  [sigh]

Halloween Thrills and Chills

For All Hallows Eve, Mommy put the tutus back on us so we could welcome the trick-or-treaters in style . . .

She wanted us to wear the costumes one more time so that when (not if) we decided to tear them up again, she would feel like she had gotten her money's worth!  She knows us so well.  I was happy to run around in my tutu showing off my very stylish self.  Jenna wasn't happy until she had her tutu and was eating mine too!  Isn't there a famous saying about that?

Mommy wisely collected the tutus and put them in the trash never to be seen or eaten again!  We donned our glow in the dark Halloween bandannas instead and helped her answer the door and greet the kids.  I pointed out to Jenna that not one of those children was eating a costume!!!

Jenna was too busy whining and crying about Daddy to listen to me.  She wanted to be outside with him.  When it was clear UGA was not going to win their football game, Daddy decided it was time to entertain himself in a different way.  He put on his camouflaged ghillie suit and hid in the shrubs waiting for unsuspecting trick-or-treaters.  Daddy's trick worked quite well.  Mommy knew there was someone at the door when she heard blood curdling screams.

A good time was had by all!  Well, maybe not those kids who almost wet their pants at the sight of Daddy, but . . .

Until next time,
Dixie
