Scout Update

We thought we'd give you a Scout update.  Scout is our uncle's black lab that Mommy recently had a dawggie affair with.  Mommy says he's a super sweet dawg, but we can't vouch for that as we've never met him.

This is what Scout looked like when we first introduced him to you:

Yes, yes, he's super cute, but who isn't at that age??  (It's up to you to decide if we're talking about the dawg or the human!)

This past fall Scout got to go on his first official duck hunt with Uncle J.  It didn't go quite as planned . . . Scout retrieved the decoys!  Can he help it his daddy didn't shoot that many ducks?  We say no!  (Note how proud Scout is of his accomplishments!)

Here's another picture of Scout taken this past fall.  We'll admit he's quite handsome, but is he as good looking as we are?  They jury is still out on that one!

Scout and Uncle J met Daddy in Arkansas over the holidays to hunt.  We think that adventure went much better.  Speaking of hunting, we have some news on that front coming soon . . .

A Dawggie Affair

Over Christmas break, Mommy and Daddy visited Mommy's family.  While there, Mommy cheated on us!  She says she loved on these other dawgs because we couldn't be with her, but we're not so sure about that . . .

Maggie, our beagle cousin was as good as gold.  She rarely makes a peep (in Mommy's presence anyway).  However, Maggie isn't always fond of her younger brother Scout (boy, do we know that feeling!).

Scout, the black lab, is a little over a year old.  He is FULL OF ENERGY!  He's also bigger than all of us.  We think Ruger might end up being bigger than Scout, but only time will tell.  Mommy invited Scout upstairs to her bedroom and even allowed him on the bed.  Shhh!  Don't tell Aunt K!  She'd not be pleased with either Mommy or Scout!

Meanwhile, we were stuck at home pining away for our parents . . . Hmpf!

Update on Scout

Since we gave you an update on our cousin Hank, it's only fair that we fill you in on cousin Scout as well.

Here's what Scout looked like on his first day home . . .

And here he is at the beginning of October . . .

Scout enjoys tennis balls.  Maybe he will take after the great tennis ball chaser Dixie?

Helping Aunt K around the house . . .

Scout enjoyed movie nights under the stars on the deck this fall.

Scout is out growing his sister Maggie in leaps and bounds.  Here's a picture from September . . .

And a picture from this week . . . what a difference two months makes!

We're sure Mommy is chomping at the bit to meet Scout in person.  We aren't quite as eager for that meeting to take place.  If Mommy loves Hank as much as she does, she might fall hook, line, and sinker for Scout since he's as handsome as we are beautiful.  By the time they meet, Scout will be even bigger.  We're pretty sure he's going to be much bigger than we are.  He'll probably be closer to our brother Hunter's proportions: BIG!

Until the next BIG update,
Dixie and Jenna

Introducing . . .

We're super excited to tell you we have a new addition to our family!  No, we haven't added a person or a dawg, but Uncle J has!  Cousins C and A look like they're already in love with the little guy, don't you think?

Meet SCOUT!  Scout is the next great hunting dawg in the family (after my sister Jenna of course, and I know some of you are snickering at that!).  I think Scout's already scheduled for a four-month long session of intensive training in about six months.  That might change the rankings in the family somewhat.  And don't forget about Cousin Hank who has a bit of experience under his belt too!

So far all Scout has been doing is sleeping (not always at night when he's supposed to), pottying, chewing on everything in sight, and taking nibbles where they aren't always welcome.  Cousin A really wants to play with Scout but has grown weary of being a chew toy.  He's even started wearing his rain/snow boots around the house to protect his feet and legs!  Those tiny jaws and nails can be super sharp!

Scout might also be torturing his big sister Maggie just a little bit.  Scout wants to play and Maggie just wants to be left alone.  Mommy says if my big brother Hunter were here, he could totally relate to Maggie.  I'm not sure why she says that . . . I'm sure Scout just wants to be in on the action or wherever Maggie is.  Uncle J said Maggie must have been sleeping HARD in order to ignore the nearness of Scout in this first picture.

Maggie graciously allows Scout to come near her in this next picture, but she's stressed about it.  The poor girl already has enough anxiety issues . . .

Scout is probably just missing his littermates and wants to be near other warm, fuzzy creatures.  I loved cuddling up to Hunter when I first moved in!  I don't think the feeling was mutual.

Recently Aunt K heard a lot of grunting coming from Scout and went to investigate . . . Scout was pulling Maggie's bed around!  This is probably a good sign as far as hunting goes since Scout will have to move some pretty big geese around the field for Uncle J!

Don't you just love a puppy belly?  It's just begging to be rubbed!

Not only does Scout like his big sister's bed, but he likes to sleep under the sofa!  Mommy says Hunter used to do that too when he was a puppy.  I'm sure there will come a day when Scout won't fit under there . . . probably sooner than later!

I personally can't wait to hear more about the adventures of Scout.  I hope Jenna and I can meet him soon, but I have the feeling that might be a while.  Mommy says if you put us together we might get a reputation as the Three Musketeers!  I see nothing wrong with that, do you?
