O Christmas Tree

We're starting the new year with old news.  Our editor in chief says she was very busy the month of December, but in reality she was very LAZY!

We'll start by telling you about this year's Christmas tree.  Usually our parents put a tree up right after Thanksgiving, but this year Mommy was sick the entire week of Thanksgiving and wanted to wait until she felt better.  BIG mistake.  Since we've lived here, our parents have gone to the same hardware store each year and chosen a beautiful yet inexpensive tree.  Mommy believes she has to have a Fraser fir as her Christmas tree.  Her home state of North Carolina is famous for their Fraser fir production and Mommy insists it's the BEST!  Apparently Daddy should have insisted they go when they usually do . . .

When our parents arrived at the usual place, there were NO Fraser firs to be found!  Mommy asked and was told "they went first."  Mommy thought she was going to cry, and Daddy wanted to do whatever he could to prevent the meltdown.  They discussed buying a Douglas fir, but Daddy knew she wouldn't be happy for long.  Instead, they started driving around in the hopes of finding another tree lot.  They finally ended up at Home Depot.  This may or may not sound like a good place to purchase a tree, but they had FRASER FIRS!  A lot of them!  Our parents found the perfect tree fairly quickly (Mommy usually has to look at ALL options), but it came at a price.  This was not a cheap tree, but it made Mommy happy! (And isn't that what really matters??)

And guess what?  It came all the way from North Carolina . . .

While putting up the tree, we had to participate in the obligatory strands of lights pictures!  Mommy calls this fun; we call this torture!  Which of us do you think wore it best?  Ruger appears to be a bit more freaked out than the rest of us, but it is only his second experience with the lights.

Once the tree was fully decorated, Ruger seemed to really enjoy checking it out.  We won't tell you the tree has tipped back against the wall TWICE this year and Daddy is seriously thinking about a fake tree for next year.  Truth be told, Mommy was already thinking about it because of the allergies that pop up once the tree goes up.  After wrestling with the tree and tree stand several times, Daddy might be on board now!  Only time will tell . . .

Here's the final product and our unusual tree topper.

We also have an advent tree at our house.  There's one bone in each day's pocket that Mommy manages to split three ways.  You'll be surprised to know that we don't sit here and beg ALL DAY long!  We actually know these treats are for the morning and only ask for them after we've eaten breakfast!  We're super smart that way!

We hope you had a beautiful tree this year with no mishaps.  We'll continue to share our December antics with you as we move into the month of January.

Happy 2019!

Happy New Year! 2018

Happy New Year!

We want to wish you belated greetings in 2018!
(Our proofreader has gotten a little behind the past few months!)

It's technically not the start of the Chinese New Year yet, but it will be soon!  It should be a pawsome year considering it's the Year of the Dawg!  Our fortune cookie predicts good things for this year!  Only time will tell what those good things are . . . (although maybe our fortune lied since we don't think these hats are a sign of goodness!)

We spent a fairly low key evening at home being tortured by Mommy with party hats and glasses. Our parents went out for an evening of fun bowling!  They had a great time with another friend.  We'll let you guess who won . . .

We hope you have a terrific year with or without a dawg in your life!  Blessings to you and your family!

Welcome 2017

Happy New Year!  This past year has crept along at times and flown by at other times.  It has been a BIG year for us.  We've moved halfway across the country and settled into a new place.  Who knows what the new year will bring us . . . only time will tell and he's not barking right now.

Speaking of barking, we've added a third dawg to our family!  And boy, does he bark.  He seems to ALWAYS have something to say!

We have the feeling that not only is he going to be barking about everything coming and going, but his slim, trim figure is going to always be that way!  [sigh]  Yes, we're a tiny bit jealous!

Mommy took the tree down this past week.  It had really dried out.  It looked beautiful from far away, but one tiny touch from a tail wag and needles rained down.  Doesn't it look sad after the ornaments are taken off?

Here's what the floor looked like after the lights were taken off.  And Mommy thought we were being cruel to the Baby Jesus earlier?  At least we didn't suffocate an angel and a shepherd!

All the Christmas decorations have been packed away and it's starting to look like winter around here (inside at least!).  Mommy is quite pleased with her very Southern mantle (cotton bolls, magnolia pods, pheasant feathers).  She wonders why this blue piece never made an appearance on the mantle in the previous house?  Please ignore Flop Ear.  He's apparently not going anywhere.

We're counting our blessings already in 2017.  After the tree hit the road, Mommy relocated our toy basket to the tree's former location.  The toys' new spot made us sit up and take notice . . . we have a LOT of toys!!!!  There is no shortage of things we can play with each day!  (And that's just one of our toy boxes!)

We hope you're already counting your blessings too.  We wish you all the best in 2017!

Happy New Year!
